QUAY began as a commercial renovation company, but the idea behind it was bigger than any one type of construction.
Beautiful work mattered. But so did showing up, communicating clearly, protecting the client’s investment and delivering exactly what had been promised.
Building a beautiful space is not enough. The process should feel just as well designed.
Our first office opened just as everything stopped.
QUAY opened its first office in Gastown during one of the most uncertain moments the construction industry had experienced.
Commercial activity slowed almost overnight. The company had a choice: wait for the old plan to return, or listen to what people needed now.
Homes suddenly mattered more than ever.
Families were living, working, learning and spending nearly every hour inside the same spaces.
QUAY began helping homeowners improve the places that now shaped almost every part of their lives. What started as a response to an unexpected moment became the future of the company.
We did not see residential renovation as a smaller version of commercial construction. We saw a chance to raise the standard.
We did not start over. We brought better systems with us.
Commercial construction depends on documentation, scheduling, procurement, coordination and accountability.
Residential renovation was too often treated differently—with vague allowances, changing timelines and important decisions left until construction was already underway.
One renovation became ten. Then fifty. Then one hundred.
Homeowners referred friends. Past clients invited us back. Designers and project partners began introducing QUAY to the people they trusted.
The company welcomed its first employee and completed its 100th renovation in 2021.
The QUAY process was built one lesson at a time.
Every renovation exposed another opportunity to make the experience clearer, more organized and more predictable.
We are still trying to prove the same thing.
That renovation does not have to be chaotic.
That contractors can answer the phone, timelines can be respected and clients can receive honest guidance before a contract is signed.
Every project is another opportunity to change someone’s perception of what working with a renovation company can feel like.
We do not believe people hire QUAY simply because they need a kitchen, bathroom or home renovated.
We believe they hire us because they want certainty. They want someone who communicates, shows up, respects their investment and does exactly what they said they would do.
