Walk-in shower installation in Vancouver
New showers and shower remodels built on proper waterproofing, with the tile, glass and fixtures you choose.
A shower is only as good as what is behind the tile
A walk-in shower is the most used part of most bathrooms and the part most exposed to water. How it is built matters more than how it looks on day one: slope to the drain, a continuous waterproof membrane and correctly set tile are what keep it sound for years.
QUAY Construction installs walk-in showers, completes full shower installations in new and existing bathrooms, and remodels dated or leaking showers across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

The shower is planned with the tile layout so niches, benches and drains land where they should.
Low-curb and curbless entries
Minimal or zero thresholds for a clean look and easier access.
Frameless glass
Clear glass panels and doors that keep the room open.
Tiled shower bases
Custom-sloped bases tiled to match or complement the walls.
Niches and benches
Recessed shelves and built-in seating planned into the framing.
Rain heads and hand showers
Thermostatic valves with overhead and handheld options.
Linear drains
Slim drains that allow large-format floor tile.

Waterproofing comes first
Tile and grout are not waterproof on their own. We install a membrane system across the shower walls and base, following the manufacturer's method, before any tile is set.
You are welcome to see the waterproofing before it is covered.
Shower installation for new and existing bathrooms.
Whether it is a new bathroom or a replacement, the steps are the same and none can be skipped.
A complete shower installation covers framing, plumbing rough-in, the base, waterproofing, tile, fixtures and glass. We coordinate every trade so the sequence runs without gaps.
- Plumbing rough-in: valves, supply lines and drains positioned for the fixtures you chose
- Base and waterproofing: sloped base and membrane system
- Tile and grout: set and finished to a clean, consistent standard
- Fixtures and glass: trim installed and glass measured after tile for an exact fit
Shower remodels for dated or leaking showers.
A shower remodel replaces what has failed and updates what has dated.
Cracked grout, loose tile, staining or water marks on the ceiling below are signs a shower needs more than a surface fix. A proper shower remodel takes the enclosure back to the studs, repairs any damage and rebuilds it correctly.
- Removal and inspection: old tile and substrate removed and framing checked for water damage
- Repairs: damaged framing or subfloor replaced before rebuilding
- Rebuild: new waterproofing, tile, fixtures and glass
- Tub-to-shower option: replacing a tub with a walk-in shower at the same time

Bathroom renovation cost in Vancouver is driven by scope, not square footage.
Shower cost depends on its size, the tile and glass chosen, the fixtures and whether plumbing moves. We define the scope with you and provide a fixed-price proposal before construction begins.
Rather than quoting a generic square-foot price, we define the actual scope and provide a fixed-price proposal before construction begins. For typical ranges by room, see our renovation cost guides.
Walk-in shower questions answered
How is a walk-in shower waterproofed? +
With a membrane system applied to the walls and base beneath the tile, installed to the manufacturer's instructions.
Can I replace my bathtub with a walk-in shower? +
Yes. It is one of the most common bathroom upgrades.
Do walk-in showers need a door? +
Not always. A fixed glass panel can be enough if the shower is deep enough and the head is positioned well.
What is a curbless shower? +
A shower with no step at the entry, where the floor slopes gently to the drain.
How do I know if my shower needs remodelling? +
Loose or cracked tile, recurring mould, soft floors or water stains nearby suggest water is getting behind the tile.
Can you install a shower in a condo? +
Yes, with strata approval where required and plumbing planned around the building drain locations.
Do you renovate older and character homes? +
Yes. We check older homes for outdated wiring, old plumbing and hazardous materials. That way, these issues are part of the plan instead of a surprise mid-project.
Does QUAY Construction provide a warranty? +
Yes. QUAY Construction provides a 365-day workmanship warranty following completion of the renovation.
